SELECTION SYSTEM ( to be used only as a guide line)

 Selection System for SAAFA

The selection of teams for all international events must, primarily, be based on the selection system and the official national rankings. However, selection does not occur automatically and is subject to approval by the SAAFA council.

Final approval of the team is at the discretion of the SAAFA council. This approval should be based on the fencers’ behavior, physical condition, training, etc.

Selection system:

• For the World Championships, African Championships, Olympic Games, Commonwealth Championships:

The fist 3 eligible fencers on the ranking list, plus a 4^th by decision of the council.

• The Ranking should be calculated on a12-month-window-rolling system, with the best four results, at the time of selection counting for selection.

• The SAAFA council reserves the right to organize national team trials to evaluate the fitness, general condition, suitability etc of the candidate fencers.
